I was inspired by the marble patterns and wanted to try to create an organic pattern dye. I was never much of a fan of tie dye and wanted to let the method of dye speak through the design rather than my own interference.
So I decided to try the Ice Dyeing technique where I let the powdered pigment mix with the melting ice and create a pattern as it is melting.

Since ice dye does not mix the colors it is important to know exactly what kind of pigments the dye is made up of. In this one for example there were a few specks of brown that made stain-like patches on the fabric.
